Wyeth Ruthven has created a new blog that answers questions about what happened to his old blog.

A message from the real Wyeth Ruthven

In May 2004, I shut down my blog "The Wyeth Wire" in advance of taking a job as Communications Director for the South Carolina Democratic Party. I felt it was neccessary for my job to speak with one voice, rather than say one thing officially at SCDP and another thing unofficially on my personal blog.

Since that time, somebody else created a new blog using the wyethwire Blogspot URL, essentially trading on all the links and hits I had built up. I wasn't hacked, but when I deleted the old blog the wyethwire domain became available and someone snatched it up. I still own "Wyethwire.com" but that doesn't cover Blogspot extensions.

The person currently posting at wyethwire.blogspot.com is NOT me. The person blogging on the old wyethwire domain calls their blog "Political Suicide" and posts bizarre rants about Yassir Arafat and Arnold Scharzenegger.

In fact, if you look at archived posts of the WyethWire at Archive.org you can pinpoint the change. The original or "classic" WyethWire is available until May 18,2004, and then the template and content change dramatically in the February 3, 2005 screen capture.

I decided to create this new blog because people kept asking me what happened to The Wyeth Wire, and when they Google WyethWire or Wyeth Ruthven they get directed to the fake site. I don't want there to be any confusion.
